During the night we were woken by cracks of thunder and flashes of lightening, accompanied by heavy rain, but we and the boat were fine. By the time we got up in the morning, it had all cleared and deck clean from a good wash with fresh water.
As we made our way out of the bay, we got a great view of the catamaran motor vessel. It was painted mostly battleship grey, with some yellow stripes and is one of the ugliest boats I have even seen. The anchor was not down, so they must have run GPS positioning to hold the boat in place. There was a heli-deck at the back and a cabin, where we guessed the helicopter would live. We looked up the boat, to find that it is brand new, having been build in Spain by a company who build support vessels. So this wealthy owner has had a support vessel built to be a super yacht. He or she must have a reason for that. It certainly not for aesthetic beauty. (see yesterday's picture)
We had chosen to move on again today, because wind was forecast. Had we tallied another day or two, there would be no wind and motoring the whole way required. We’ve made a note to return though, as Losinj looks a place to spend much more time.
We had light airs from the south so we able to fly the kite for most of the way. When we about an hour and a half from our destination we heard thunder and could see the grey patches of squalls over the land ahead. Looking at the app locating lighting confirmed the localised storms. What we weren’t sure of, was whether they we heading our way. The mantra is always safety first, so we got the kite down and then also the main, in record time. By now, the wind had dropped so we needed to motor the last bit anyway.

The bay of Medulin is very reminiscent of Poole harbour, but not quite as big. It’s a wide shallow bay, with lots of inlets. We read that it’s a holiday area and we passed a campsite on the first peninsula as we passed in. There was only one other boat near to our chosen spot and the anchor bit in first go in what we understand is sticky mud on the bottom. We have arrived in Istria and what a fabulous day and a delightful place to be. After dark the shore lights reflected in the glassy water, making it absolutely beautiful.
