The boatyard has been pretty quiet today, there is just a skeleton staff here to supervise any arrivals. We have spent the time checking and double checking the boats systems. Luigi, the boss of the maintenance company says that he is in the solutions business, and we have found a couple of extra opportunities for him to demonstrate his (considerable) capabilities. It seems as if we cross off 2 or 3 jobs, but find one more to add to the list. Anyway generally good progress is being made all round, although it looks as if our objective of being able to leave on Tuesday seems unlikely.
| Our evening promenade |
The weather is absolutely beautiful, clear blue skies and warm in the sun. The wind however is chilly so we are probably wearing more layers than we would expect when we go out.
It being Palm Sunday, we anticipated that there would be Easter related processions, Trapani has one of the most famous Easter processions in Sicily. We walked into town in the early evening, noting just how busy the roads were, with cars queuing to get to the town centre. When we arrived there were plenty of people socialising, but no sign of any parades. We made our way to the church that houses the Misteri, a set of life-sized wooden statues depicting scenes from the Passion, sculpted in the eighteenth century. Each of the 20 groups is associated with and maintained by one of the town's trade associations. They are paraded through the town on Good Friday, but we may not still be here to see it.
