By the time we awoke the wind and rain had stopped, and the sky was bright. There was still a fairly disturbed sea, and we could see and feel some waves coming into the harbour, but the challenges of yesterday were quickly forgotten.
In fact the weather was glorious. The sky nearly cloudless, and the sun warming us.
We made all of the preparations for Chris to leave, packing and arranging transport for him to the airport, then walked up to the town. Monday is often a day when the cafes and restaurants are closed, and as it was also a bank holiday, we were a bit apprehensive of what we would find open. We tried the main square where there is usually a good quota of cafes open for coffee, but none were. Eventually we found one, and it seemed to be very busy with local families and friends meeting to give Easter greetings. The atmosphere was very warm and relaxed.
We headed on to the beach and this time had rather longer to walk along it. It must be very busy in the summer, because there are acres of car parking spaces. There were a few guys fishing from the beach, as seems to be the case everywhere, when it is not a work day.
We headed back to town to find a restaurant for lunch, to compensate for the meal out we had forgone yesterday. Initially we were concerned, but we found somewhere open and went for a very pleasant meal. On the recommendation of the waiter, Tricia and Chris both went for a pasta dish, with what we think was cuttlefish, and all coloured with squid ink. The waiter had warned that it looked a bit daunting, but was delicious, and I think they both were glad that he had said that. It did look a bit odd when it arrived.
All too soon it was time to head back to the boat so that Chris could get his taxi. We were just about ready when the marinaro came to say that the taxi was waiting.
