It's amazing what you can achieve when you come to a problem refreshed. The issues we were having with reassembling parts of our boom were quickly resolved in the morning, and then with Andy and Alison's help, we were able to re-rig the mainsail and then hoist it and furl it away properly. It also allowed us to successfully trial our revised approach to this process, and it worked very well. All this achieved before the wind started in the late morning.
Now confident that we would be able to leave tomorrow, we had time to go into the town to buy food for the next few days, when again we will be at anchor overnight. There was even time for me to get a haircut before everything closed down for lunch. This is always an interesting activity, and made more so when you are divided from the barber by the lack of a common language. I have some Italian, but it doesn't run to the technicalities of specifying details of the hair cut. The barber was a jolly guy and started by indicating that I had to wait while he had a cigarette. He said that his doctor had instructed him to do this, with a twinkle in his eye. The result of the process was a considerably less scruffy me than previously.
In the afternoon, we were able to explore the long promenade behind the beach, which was rather splendid.

We said our goodbyes to our friends, who will be taking a different route to us for the next little while, I'm sure we will meet again further along our trip. We have had the chance to compare plans, and theirs is very similar to ours.
