We wanted to judge our progress today, so that we arrived in Trogir at the right time. We had booked a space, so knew that we should have no problem.
When we arrived in Trogir it was organised chaos as it charter boat changeover day. Trogir has 3 very large marinas, one with pontoons from A - Z. The vast majority of the berths are taken for charter boats, and Saturday is changeover day. We had realised that asking for a berth on Friday night, when all the boats have to be back to base, was both a waste of time and potentially the avoidance of a disturbed night, with the returning crews making the most of their last night. Our guess was that there were about 500 charter boats in our marina alone. on the outside, (right of the picture below) there was a line of about 50 catamarans. Marina Baotic is the base for at least 5 charter companies and also a start point for "The Yacht Week", sailing's answer to Club 18-30. The marina was packed with excited folks being checked in, and the shown to their boats, then going off to buy supplies for 6-12 people for a week, or at least enough beer for the first part of the evening. It was quite a site.
We made our way in, and berthed on a pontoon that seemed to be reserved for private boats. It was quite tight, but we were soon secured in place. A German boat followed us in and moored in the next berth.
In the evening we took the water taxi to Trogir old town, about 10 minutes away. The old town is situated on a small island between the mainland and a significant island. There are bridges connecting to each side. The entrance is guarded by a castle and from there you can wander the old narrow streets of a town that cannot have changed its layout in centuries. We used the trip to explore and find where we would have to go for resupply.
