We wanted and had planned to move on to Trani today. This is a small town about 20 miles north of Bari, which we gather is very pretty. It would also mean that we would split the journey to Manfredonia, making it rather easier. However, it was not to be. We waited around, on standby, until about 11.00, hoping for confirmation that there would be a place in the small marina for us. Mid morning we gave up and decided that we would just enjoy another day in Bari, then go direct to Manfredonia tomorrow. I think it was just due to difficulty with our language communication with the "fixer" in Trani, but no matter, we can’t see everything.
There’s a nice promenade walk from the marina to the north, and, it being Sunday, the locals had packed the beaches. There were groups of men playing cards, with their supporters around them and generally a good social time being had by all.
In the evening our new Canadian friends joined us for sundowners, along with a British couple, who had arrived in the marina yesterday. We are all heading in the same direction at different times and exchanging stories and information about the various border controls is all good fun and very useful.
