We were pretty tired after the long, fun day on the water yesterday, so this was just going to be a day to chill. The marina is superb, the best we have been in, in Italy. It is huge (over 700 berths), and only about half full. There are finger pontoons, just as you get in Britain, so we don't need to get the passerelle out.
We walked the short distance into the town and got the laundry done, in the sort of spotless, self-service lavanderia that we have come to expect in this part of the world. While that was going on we went for a coffee in a pasticceria (cafe), much used by the locals. As is usual in Italy, they stand at the counter to drink their espresso, sometimes with a pastry, the whole visit taking ten minutes at most.
As we came past the greengrocers next door, the young guy
wasn’t going to give us anything less than a kilo of anything. Looks like we’ll
be having courgettes at lunch and dinner for several days. The cherries will go
down well too. This is not a tourist town, so few people speak English, which
gives us the chance to try out our few words of Italian.
In the evening we watched the squalls in the distance, accompanied by thunder and lighting, but it stayed away from our spot, so a stroll around the marina in the cool of the evening was very welcome.
