14 June 2022 - Ubli

We hadn’t been up for long when a little boat arrived with a man selling croissants, bread, home make marmalade and home made wine. What a treat to have fresh croissants for breakfast.

This was a lazy day, recovering from the long, but superb day out on the water yesterday.

I had a good swim to the shore and back, then inspected the anchor, which, reassuringly, was well dug in. It would have been a surprise for it not to have been, as there was sufficient wind in the morning to pull on it.

Stevo came over with his tender, in the afternoon, and he took us around the corner, to the next bay to see and go in the submarine tunnel. Until about 30 years ago, Lastovo was a military base and nobody outside of the military was allowed here. Apart from from some scattered abandoned buildings, it is almost completely unspoiled and is a National park. The water is crystal clear. The land around the bays next to Ubli apparently have tunnels. The submarine tunnel looks like a railway tunnel but, instead of the track, there is water.

You have to look carefully to see the submarine pen, near the 3 boats in the middle

It is completely uplifting to be in such beautiful surroundings.
