23 June 2022 - Sestrunj

We opted to go wild this evening and stay at a little used bay. There hadn’t been enough wind to sail and what there was, was on the nose, so we motored up to the south end of the island of Sestrunj. When we arrived, there was one other boat in the bay, with an other naked man amongst the crew. It’s clearly a thing, here, that, particularly Northern European, middle aged and older men take their kit off, at the slightest opportunity. They are not attractive to look at, but I guess they don’t care, and after being in Italy, where there is no nudity, it comes as a bit of a shock. I wonder what the locals think of it. Thankfully they left about an hour after we arrived and we enjoyed the peace, tranquillity and wildness of the place. The only interruptions were the occasional ferry going past and, a couple of times, a little airplane that would scoop up seawater to then dump on fires. It flew incredibly low over us. We weren’t aware of any fires in the vicinity so we guessed they were on a training exercise.
