After we had posted yesterday’s blog, we were treated to one of the best firework displays I have ever seen. A live band had been playing on the stage during the evening. I have to say that their music was rather mediocre, but the light show afterwards was just fantastic….and I’m comparing that with Singapore on New Years Eve. I have no idea what was being celebrated, but that doesn’t matter. Being water side of where they launched the rockets, gave us a superb uninterrupted view.

We hoped we might get to Novigrad, a small town less then 20 miles up the coast this morning, but we learned that Equinox is too big to get onto the mooring buoys in the small harbour and it’s equally marginal whether we could get into the marina because of the water depth. We had a relaxed morning out on the water and went for plan B, to go to Vrsar. That plan was dashed because there was no space in the marina for us. And so we returned to the buoy field at Rovinj, plan C. We are mindful that we have one more day to get to a safe haven, before bad weather comes in. We’d love to take refuge at the marina in Rovinj, but the price of berthing there is outrageous. We have just enjoyed our last evening here, in complete calm, listening to the music from the bar at the hotel on the shore. At sunset as well as admiring the pink sky, we watched the fishermen laying their nets around us.
