21 September 2022 - Artaturi

The wind blew and howled during the night, so our sleep was disturbed. I got up a couple of times to check all was well and it was; the anchor was holding securely. The surrounding high ground of the bay was sufficient to protect us from the full brunt of the high winds.

The handful of boats, mostly charter boats, that had also anchored in the bay left during the morning and, for a while, we had the place to ourselves. Then from midday new boats started arriving and, by evening, there were about 8 there. We questioned why it was so much busier than when we had be here before, but realised this was mid week, whereas we had been here on a Saturday before, when its it’s charter boat change over day.

We had wanted to take the dinghy ashore to then have a walk, but it was just too windy during the morning, for us to contemplate leaving the boat alone at anchor. By the time the wind dropped, it was too late to make it worthwhile, so, instead, I swam to the shore, to get my exercise. The water is crystal clear and I could see the bottom, even without a mask.
