It is as if the last weekend of September has been designated the end of the season. The weather is wet and windy, (although we would probably think it was quite a nice day if we were on holiday in the UK), but the temperature is not cold because the wind is from the south. There seem to be far fewer of the charter boats in use today, although it may be that those who have come have decided to stay in port. We think that many of the others, determined to make the best of their time, will have either gone downwind to the next ports, or are choosing to day sail and return to the safety of their home marina at night. We will see how many return. The car park has emptied and most of the "owner" boats look as if they have been closed up for the winter.
We woke to the sound of rain falling on the deck, and decided to have a very leisurely morning. The forecast is not great for several days and we anticipate staying here, so there was no rush to do all of the jobs. We made a start on the chores, but when the rain had stopped we went for a long walk along the coast. We've got to get our steps in! As we went we saw that the bakeries and some bars were still open, but the shacks selling souvenirs and the ice cream stalls had decided that there was no business to be had.
We sat for a while watching some guys windsurfing in the strong winds, they were flying across the water.
We can enjoy the comfort of good nights sleep, calmly safe in the marina, with the benefit of access to the mainland, for a few days. This will also allow us to catch up on some maintenance and plan where we might go for rest of our Autumn sojourn.
We have had threatening cloud like this all day
