3rd September 2022 - Artaturi

I will never tire of getting up to seeing the scene in a pretty little bay, especially when the water is calm and the sun is shining. It was a shame to have to move, but the wind forecast meant it would not be comfortable to stay.

We had a similar distance to yesterday of about 34 miles to our next next stop in Uvala Artaturi on the Island of Losinj. This is also a large wide bay, with loads of space and there were few boats. On second attempt, the anchor appeared to have dug in and I went for a swim with the mask and snorkel to check. It wasn’t right in, but it was good enough for the light breeze we expected overnight. A delightful Italian family were next door. They had two young boys, who entertained us while they were casting their fishing lines from the boat, the older one meanwhile singing and the younger one under instruction from Dad. They had been concerned that their anchor was under our boat, but while checking ours, I checked theirs and was able to reassure them we were clear.

On our other side were two Austrian boats and they conformed to type by having a naked older man on board. There is a thing around here of nude Austrian men! They are never a pretty sight.

After darkness had fallen and we had just finished our supper, a huge motor vessel came and appeared to anchor a the entrance to the bay. We know it was more than 50 meters in length, because it had two steaming lights.
