We decided to spend at least another 24 hours here. We are in a peaceful and sheltered bay, and after moving on three successive days, we are due some downtime. Probably even more importantly, we need to go ashore to get fresh food supplies. We decided to deploy the new (borrowed) dinghy for this. It is bigger than our old one so took much more pumping up, plus the inevitable back and forth as you work out the order that things should be done. After the effort of inflating it, however, it was much more stable than our old one, and drier and more comfortable when on the move.
We found a site to go ashore without a notice to say we couldn’t,
so we tied up the dinghy and left it. We
have a good walk around the town in search of food. It is a holiday place and
has many cafes and restaurants, but not much sign of fresh food. Given the number of campsites, there must be
some somewhere. Eventually we returned
to one of the first places that we had seen and bought fruit and veg. We asked
them where we could get fish and meat and the guy responded by saying “which do
you want, fish or meat?”. So we said “Both” and he directed us to a place. Given
that it was supposed to sell both, it seemed as if his question had been
unnecessary. When we got there, they
only had meat, but that was ok, as it seemed like a very good butchers. Armed
with enough to feed us for a couple of days, we returned to the dinghy and then
Equinox.
In the evening we were treated to a spectacular sunset,
accompanied by live music from the campsite.
