Our patience during September, when the weather was “changeable”, has been rewarded. October has been a vast improvement, with the only drawback being that there has not been much wind. We are making the best of it by island hopping short distances and visiting places that have been recommended to us. Today was no different. We had a fairly relaxed start and then motored about 4 miles to a bay called Brbinj Sud. This was one of the most sheltered and beautiful bays we had been to for a long time.
The bay is equipped with buoys, and because they are close
together, they are fitted with lazy lines to the shore. We had never experienced
this variation before, but it was designed to allow you to make off to the
shore without having to send someone ashore. We captured the buoy easily enough,
but then realised that we had to send a diver in, to both thread a line through
the bottom of the buoy, and pick up the line lazy line that ran from the buoy to
the shore. Tricia was duty diver today
so went in and passed up the lines. We
had a few discussions about how best to do use them, but eventually got nicely
aligned, with our stern towards the shore. We will have to take care with how
we drop the line tomorrow.
In the afternoon we went ashore and walked through to the ferry port of Brbinj Nord. There was absolutely nothing going on. We have reached the end of the season, and it is Friday, so all the charter boats are back in port. When we returned, the buoy field held just one boat, as it had done earlier. Its going to be a quiet night.
