It’s all about cleaning at the moment.
The unusual part of this was Steve taking the dinghy around the boat to clean the hull. It’s now gleaming. It was the perfect day to do it, with clear blue sky and warm sunshine.
We’ve watched the marinaros, each morning, continuing to build the floating bridge across the marina entrance, that will be used as a walkway during the boat show. They take their task very seriously, although it must be great fun. They have attached an outboard engine to open and close it, when boats need to get in, so they sit on the edge of the pontoon (now bridge) and drive it with the engine.
Last night a load of boats arrived, that had clearly been racing. It gave us a pang of missing going racing, but we cannot race Equinox, without a great deal of change to her, which we don’t want to do, as she is our home.
This morning we took the jib off, while there was no wind, the job all done and dusted by 9.30.
The rest of the marina is being converted to a tented village. Some of the exhibitors are already working on assembling their stalls. Today being Friday, charter change over day, together with all the preparations for the show, mean that the place is busing again, having been very quiet. Prize giving for the race regatta went on in the restaurant at lunchtime, with lots of teams, in team gear, thoroughly enjoying themselves.
