It was quite novel, after this two months on the boat, to wake up in an apartment, with the normal comforts of that, and an electric kettle.
The
coffee shops in town only sell drinks, so the local order is that you get your
breakfast pastries from the bakery and eat them with you drink in the coffee
shop. We were soaking up the last of seeing the fabulous blue sky, overlooking
the marina.
Today was for us to enjoy the boat show. Our main task was to research tenders, as we need a new one, but we allowed ourselves to be distracted by also looking at electric tender engines and solar panels. The tender question was easily sorted, as the Highfield brand appear to be of much better quality than the others, but of course that means they are more expensive. We don’t really need a new tender engine, but putting our small petrol one onto the tender is difficult. The electric engines are so much lighter. That may be the luxury that has to wait, but we’ll see.
It
was surprising that we only found one company stand selling solar panels. We
were impressed with what they had to offer, and they have come down in price
massively over the last two or three years. We’re getting closer to doing it,
despite charging with our existing generator being fairly efficient so far.
We
bought some products from the charming French man, who had given us a personal
demonstration of cleaning the fenders. They finish up not perfectly clean, but
with a big improvement at much less effort than we had had to use before.
We
said goodbye to Marina Marko, met up with Stevo and enjoyed great conversation
in the sunshine, over coffee.
The
evening, having a superb supper with Stevo, Marko and others was a brilliant
end to a good season by and on the water this year.
