6 October 2022 - Kornati

Again there was no wind overnight and we got up to greet a glassy sea. The deck was absolutely soaked with condensation, so some wiping down was required. I will never tire of getting up a beautiful serene scene like this.

We slipped out of the mooring area before most people were up and passed a little motor boat with a couple of guys fishing. We have loved it here in the Telascicia Nature Park; I’m sure we will return.

We saw this lighthouse and speculated if they did haircuts as well (look closely)

A final view of the cliffs

The plan was to pop into a bay, billed as one of the few superb sandy beaches in Croatia. We did pop in, but the anchor wouldn’t hold, so we didn’t stay. The swimming area was wisely roped off, at the head of the bay, and it did appear to be a nice beach and we had seen it. Good enough.

Now we travelled through some very narrow passages, between islands and shallows and into Uvala Kravljacic on the west side of the island of Konati. There is a line of mooring buoys along the coast of the bay and there was just one other yacht, at anchor. The land is completely different here, compared to Telascica. Getting the second mooring line attached to the buoy isn’t always easy, and so, it’s a good excuse for me to go in for a swim to thread our rope through the eye under the buoy, then we know we are secure.

The land is just covered with rocks and boulders, and the only trees in sight are clustered around the three houses at the north and at the south end of the bay. The water is crystal clear and other than a few fish and sea cucumbers, I spotted a couple of star fish.

Sunset is now around 6.30pm. Today we were treated to another spectacular sunset sky.

We can read and play cards to keep ourselves entertained until it’s time to turn in. The cooler nights are much more comfortable for sleeping and we haven’t had any mosquitoes, or other annoying insects, bothering us for days.
