10 October 2022 - Biograd na Maru

We broke our record for the speed of slipping lines, from getting up, this morning. We were leaving the bay within half an hour. We also lost no time in getting the sails up at the bay entrance, as there was a lovely force 3 breeze.

Through the morning we had a cracking sail, off the wind. As we approached Biograd, the wind died, so it wasn’t a problem to motor the last few miles, especially as we had to keep out of the way of a support vessel and a fishing boat, which were charging past us, from the nearby fish farm. We rather have the impression that these commercial vessels don’t worry about international collision regs but rather expect everyone else to get out of their way. We’re not going to argue with them; they could do us a lot of damage, if push came to shove.

We were back in time to get some lunch before my Spanish class on Zoom.

It was a gorgeous afternoon with blue sky and sunshine. As the wind had dropped we could feel the warmth of the 23C.

The temperature drops significantly after sunset and then it’s not really warm enough to dine on deck now, unless we wanted to put a couple of thick jumpers on, but there’s still the odd buzzy insect flying around during the night.
